The 2017 Goodguys Lonestar Nationals did not disappoint despite a rainy start. We showed up in Dallas at 10PM Friday night and the truck looked like we had taken it off road. We hit Walmart and Lambert detailed his heart out till the wee hours of the morning. Saturday we woke up to blue skies and headed to Ft. Worth. It was a beautiful day with much to see. No sooner than we parked did the most amazing red crewcab c-10 roll in and park just across from us. I stopped everything and made a beeline. I could have shot that truck all day long.. the family was just as great as the truck and gave me the full scoop on their custom build. I would make a few rounds with Lambert and check out other rods but I kept going back to that red beauty. I wanted to give them a trophy… a big gaudy trophy with their name on it. They really needed a trophy and I hope they were well recognized for their workmanship and craft. We had so much fun seeing old friends and meeting new. I talked to a photographer from Arizona for over an hour. We really like those Arizona guys! We hit all the haunts in historic Roanoke and as per the norm stuffed ourselves sick at Babes. Lambert was determined to bring me to tears on the track and he almost succeeded. I have never been so scared… 80mph 2 feet from the wall in a 72 truck is really really skeeery! I just love everything about this show. I love the kiddos and the classics, the ratrods and pinups and most of all the community and nostalgia that comes with Goodguys and great cars!
