I get this question often… “How do you do it?” It’s really simple. Love kids, Love people and Love FUN! I LOVE kids. When I shoot weddings, I’ll find myself hanging out with the kiddos and the old people! Always. They’re like magnets. I’ll go to great lengths to make a kiddo feel comfortable, safe and confident… these are all the things that make for a great session. I never tell a kid to say cheese… EVER. PERIOD. I talk with Mom first to find out what kind of kiddo I’m dealing with. Every child is different. I don’t want to scare a super shy or reserved little client with my big personality. My goal in every session is to bring out the authentic BEST in your child/family. I want to deliver a FRAMED piece of art that you will hang on your wall and LOVE every single time you pass it. I want your kids to look at that art and love it too. I receive the sweetest e-mails from my School Photography moms… They can not believe that I was able to capture an authentic smile, smirk, grin, full on gut laugh, or their child’s famous frownie face, etc… Some tell me they have never purchased school portraits because the images just don’t reflect their child’s true personality. I know how to engage kids of all ages. I know when to pull back, take breaks, and push a little harder. I can sense when the wall is about to come down. I believe it’s a gift and I have to share it! I love bringing families into the studio for portraits because I have total control. There are no distractions, cheesy props, trendy sets. I’ve tried all of these things, but at the end of the day, a simple backdrop makes a kids personality POP. Mom and dad can wait comfortably nearby while the magic happens. I’m always up for a good challenge. When a mom tells me, “Oh you’ll never get her to cooperate, or He is naughty, so good luck..” IT’S ON! I have so many tricks in my bag, the toughest kids never see whats coming. I’ll have them laughing and not wanting to leave before the session is over! It’s important to have that consultation with mom well before our session because moms know their kids. It’s imperative that we work together! I want to know what she wants to do with her photos too. Is it a milestone year and an album is in order, or does she just want the money shot to hang over the sofa? Your family photos should be tangible art in your home. I want to create a modern, clean classic work of art that reflects the people that live in your home. I promise it exists moms. I don’t believe presenting 300 digital images on a CD with a print release is what moms really want.(I’m guilty of delivering this product because it’s what everyone else was doing so I thought it must be right). I know from experience, if I don’t buy a print/product, the files will live on my computer for eternity. You can’t find it at Costco, or Sams. It’s not the $19.99 DIY gallery wrap from Wallgreens or the album created in Shutterfly. Quality over quantity lasts. When you want an art installation in your home, IM YOUR GIRL! I’ll plan the session with you, I’ll help you figure out what to wear. I’ll determine the best product , size shape, frame etc for you, edit it, order it, deliver it and hang it on your wall… FULL SERVICE, my friends! I just want to photograph your child, family, in a classic, timeless way that never goes out of style…
